Workshop: Architecture considers architecture to be a craft – one that is learned through study, and that requires hands-on practice and attention to detail to succeed. Role Summary/Purpose:
Workshop: Architecture is expanding and we are recruiting a Project Architect to meet our growing demands. As the Project Architect, you will be exposed to the entire life cycle of a project while getting hands-on design experience. The Project Architect will be asked to innovate while also executing on the details of our clients’ visions.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Prepare construction documents and presentation drawings under the supervision of the licensed design architect.
• Plan designs and finishes with maximum energy and resource efficiency in mind.
• Meet, both as a team and, at times, independently with clients, consultants, contractors, and trades people on an ongoing basis to discuss plans, designs, and timelines. Listen and communicate the design intent effectively with all parties.
• Incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents and meet assigned deadlines.
• Perform field measurements of existing structures and/or construction observations.
• Utilize provided software (Adobe Suite, ArchiCAD, etc.) to perform all work tasks and be able to learn new software, as needed, to remain competitive in the industry.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of Architecture.
• Recently licensed or actively working towards licensure.
• 1-5 years of professional architecture experience or previous experience within the construction industry.
• Strong visual literacy and understanding of fundamental design principles and standard drawing conventions used for architectural presentations and construction drawings.
• Working knowledge of building codes and good planning skills.
• High level of integrity and professionalism.
• Self-motivated and with a willingness and desire to learn about all aspects of Architecture.
• Strong team player that is collaborative and focused on the best outcome/design for client.
• Ability to identify a problem, gauge proficiency, and ask the right questions.
• Detail oriented individual, not afraid to “roll up your sleeves” and get involved in the fine, and at times, tedious details.
• Strong time management skills, comfortable working in a deadline driven environment.
• Ability to quickly establish rapport with clients.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
• Individual must have a valid driver’s license and available transportation.
• Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check.
Desired Job Qualifications:
• Experience with the Apple OS.
• Software experience with the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
• Experience with ArchiCAD (BIM) is preferred but not required.
• LEED Accredited professional and/or interest in pursuing.
Essential Physical Functions:
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to climb on ladders, scaffolding, and uneven surfaces.
• Ability to walk/crawl in old buildings with uneven surfaces/stairs.
• Employee will occasionally be exposed to wet/dry and hot/cold weather conditions.
